THE IDEA AND THE PROCESS
After working in fashion for over 20 years, the idea for æquidem was born from a simple observation: clothing can be much more than a style.
Throughout my life's journey, I saw how much fashion could empower — but also how much clothing could become an obstacle.
In 2020, back in school at the French Institute of Fashion, and witnessing the illness of a 15-year-old girl, I structured this intuition.
The project matured over several years, fueled by encounters, incubators, awards won, and a desire to fully embrace a strong conviction:
To create useful fashion that thinks of EVERYONE!
THE BRAND
In 2025, æquidem will be officially founded, immediately taking on the status of a mission-driven company.
Not just another brand
But a brand whose guiding principle is Inclusive Design from the outset!
A stylish brand that combines practicality, comfort, and desirability!
A brand that promotes well-being through aesthetics.
I'm Bénédicte.
My creative spirit has always drawn me to manual activities: sculpture, sewing, drawing... I'm a "jack of all trades," I keep and transform everything, and I always have 1000 projects in mind!
Fashion has always been a personal passion and the common thread throughout my career.
The story begins at age 7, with a gift, a mini Singer sewing machine… I sewed for my dolls, my Barbies…
The story continues at age 14, with an incredible high school in Brittany that mandated a weekly activity system from tenth grade to senior year. I chose the Styling team. For 3 years, I created, I sewed, I was assistant team leader, then team leader, and I organized the big end-of-year fashion show…
At 20, I went to New York for 3 months for my first professional experience in fashion.
At 23, at the end of my studies at Dauphine, I applied to schools, including the Institut Français de la Mode, to pursue a postgraduate degree in fashion… but a serious car accident stopped that project!
An opportunity arose: an internship at Givenchy.
I seized it.
From there, 20 years followed in retail, fashion, and luxury – at Givenchy and Balenciaga.
Then, driven by my entrepreneurial spirit, I continued as a freelancer, to support brands in their retail strategy.
Driven by a deep passion for creation, I have always nurtured a love for crafting and design. And joining the MBA at the Institut Français de la Mode in 2019 was not a career change, but rather a desire to reshuffle the deck… the deck of life!
Today, my ambition goes beyond simply launching a brand: I aspire to bring a unique project to life, one that is meaningful and authentic.
